"Electric Grove" 5 3/4 X 5 3/4 Cold Wax & Oil On Cradle Board

Inspired by the extraordinary palette of rainbow eucalyptus, Electric Grove is a pair of small cold wax and oil paintings alive with color, texture and spontaneous mark-making.

Layers of wax and oil are built up, scraped back, drawn into and covered again, allowing earlier colors and marks to flicker through the surface. Acid green, turquoise, violet, orange and deep red collide across the two panels, with the painting continuing around the edges of the wood.

Loose, layered and a little unruly, Electric Grove is less about depicting a place than capturing the sheer joy of color found in nature.
